Land-Based Gambling in California
If you want to gamble in person, California has more options than most states. There are roughly 70 tribal casinos scattered from the Oregon border down to San Diego, plus around 80 licensed cardrooms in cities and towns across the state. Is Online Gambling Legal in California?
This is the question I get asked the most, and the honest answer is “it depends on what you mean by online gambling.” There is no California-licensed online casino, online poker site, or online sportsbook. The state legislature has flirted with online poker bills going back to around 2008, and online sports betting was on the ballot in 2022, but nothing has gotten across the finish line. Land-Based Sports Betting in California
I will keep this section short because there is not much to say. Land-based sports betting is not legal in California.
